Colloquia

The NCPAP organizes biennially a one-day colloquium on a topic in Physics that is likely to attract a broad audience, including teachers from the secondary schools, bachelor and master students, researchers active in the field and interested laymen.

2005: "Energy in the 21st Century: from Einstein to Controlled Fusion"

2007: "Physics in Medicine: from diagnosis to therapy"

2009: "Light: at the forefront of Physics"

2011: “Cosmology: The Science of the Universe2022

2013: "Physics and the Energy Challenge"

2015: "Particle Physics after the 2013 Nobel Prize"

2017: "The Physics of Living Systems"

2019: "Quantum Information: The second quantum revolution?"

 2022: "Gravitational Waves and Exoplanets"

2024: "The Nature of Time in Physics"

For the organisation of the Colloquia, the NCPAP is advised by a Scientific Committee (SC) that represents as broadly as possible the Belgian physics community working in the area covered by the colloquium. Since 2011, all presentations are in English.

On the occasion of each Colloquium also a Poster session is organised, where the Belgian research institutions active in the theme of the Colloquium present their work.
