Sportsmanship Message
The sportsmanship message must be read during every PIAA contest. Officials must read this message to the head coach and captains prior to the start of each contest.
The message should be read as written on the sportsmanship message card that each official should receive prior to the season starting.
We must not paraphrase or summarize the message.
Sportsmanship Message:
PIAA requires all registered sports officials to enforce the sportsmanship rules for coaches and contestants. Actions meant to demean opposing contestants, teams, spectators, and officials are not in the highest ideals of interscholastic education and will not be tolerated. Let today's contest reflect mutual respect. Coaches, please certify to the contest official(s) that your contestants are legally equipped and uniformed according to NFHS rules and PIAA adoptions or will be at the kick-off. Good luck in today's contest.
Overtime Procedures
Regular Season
Regular Season games which are tied at the end of 80 minutes of play must play overtime per PIAA adoptions.
There shall be no more than two “sudden victory” overtime periods not to exceed ten (10) minutes each.
League, District and State (First Round, Quarter and Semi Finals) Post-Season (Playoffs)
The procedure for determining a winner when a soccer Contest that is being played in order to advance a Team during a Regular Season Tournament, or to advance to the Postseason or during a Postseason Contest which ends regulation play with the score tied shall be as follows:
There shall be no more than two “sudden victory” overtime periods not to exceed fifteen minutes each.
