I really like this article from NZ Register of Exercise Professionals - REPs. It gives a balanced view of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and highlights the need to exercise at a level suitable for your own body.
Some form of HIIT MAY be appropriate for you, but get some good advice before doing this type of exercise.
