What are the advantages of hiring Pedro?

As a holder of a Doctorate in Political Science, I have acquired a thorough understanding of the field's theories, analytical approaches, and research methodologies. If we decide to hire Pedro, what adaptations will the workplace need to make?

In order to accommodate my needs, the workplace should have at least one bathroom that is large enough for me to access and maneuver freely with my powered wheelchair. Additionally, the height of my workstation may need to be adjusted to accommodate the height of my chair and allow for sufficient circulation space. If my workstation is located on a floor other than the ground floor, the workplace will also need an elevator of sufficient size for me to access with my powered wheelchair.


Do we have support for making these adaptations?

This will depend on the legal framework in your country. In Portugal, Decree-Law No. 290/2009 provides various forms of support for qualification (including professional training) and integration, maintenance, and reintegration into the workforce. These supports include information actions, assessment, and guidance for qualification and employment; placement support and post-placement follow-up; job adaptations, removal of architectural barriers, and exemptions and reductions of social security contributions.

If we are unable to make these adaptations to the workplace, are there other options for Pedro's collaboration?

Yes, if it is not possible to make the necessary adaptations to the workplace, we can consider alternative arrangements such as telework.

Does Pedro require a personal assistant?

Yes, many people with disabilities rely on personal assistants to help with day-to-day tasks. 

In my case, a personal assistant would support me during office hours with tasks such as going to the bathroom, dressing and undressing, meal support (not including cooking or preparation), on-site travel assistance, support with work tasks (such as retrieving documents, positioning equipment for use, taking notes, or retrieving books), and support during business trips. 

In Portugal, the cost of a personal assistant will not be the responsibility of my employer.

If we wish to interview Pedro, what should we consider in terms of location?

The location of the interview should be accessible and able to be reached with a powered wheelchair.

Is it possible to interview Pedro via videoconference?
