You will need to bring your instrument to school every day for class. Intermediate and advanced students will want to consider buying an instrument. Your director and private teacher can help you with that decision. Beginners should plan to rent their instruments. See this link for a brief discussion about renting vs. buying for the new band student: Renting vs Buying for Beginners. Music & Arts http://www.musicarts.com/, Moore Brothers Music https://moorebrothersmusic.com/ (through Ted Brown) and Kennelly Keys http://www.kennellykeysmusic.com/ do most of our student's rentals. Selected larger instruments are available to rent from the school, see the information below for details.
Instruments to Rent from a Music Store
Flute
Clarinet
Oboe (unless we have enough)
Alto Saxophone
Trumpet
Trombone (if you want one at home and at school, you can rent an additional one from the school)
Percussion: 3 Items are needed:
1) Each percussion student needs to purchase a stick bag with specific mallets and sticks:
This Innovative Percussion kit has what they need: https://www.amazon.com/Vic-Firth-EP2-Intermediate-Education/dp/B0002F51BG/ref=sr_1_15?crid=B9XH7OIU0VMQ&dchild=1&keywords=stick+bag+for+drumsticks+and+mallets&qid=1628483734&sprefix=stick+bag%2Caps%2C294&sr=8-15
Personal Stick Bag labeled with name
Xylophone mallets
Medium hard timpani mallets
Drumsticks
Yarn mallets for marimba and vibes.
2 & 3) A snare or drum pad and bell kit for home practice (you do not need to bring this to class)
Another option, highly recommended, rather than rent, is to purchase a wood xylophone or marimba for home practice. This will make a more beautiful sound and practicing will be more enjoyable. https://www.musicarts.com/sound-percussion-labs-2-2-3-octave-xylophone-main0139105?variantid=1180177&source=LWWRCKEBA&gad_source=4&gclid=Cj0KCQjw28W2BhC7ARIsAPerrcLVbUfADyjTA18sn71VmvQnm50sKaDDmd1Or-2YhVog-5SDJIl7aWoaArCHEALw_wcB
