Mission Statement
* To further the understanding of the human/dog bond; and to help those relationships grow through education.
* To provide knowledge and skills to care for our canine companions so as to prevent harm to both human and dog and the tragedy of unwanted pets.
Professional Code of Conduct
I agree to make choices that align with the values and intentions of the Grisha Stewart Academy.
These include:
Prioritizing physical and emotional safety. When needs for safety, belonging, and satisfaction are met, empowered pro-social behavior emerges.
Practicing kindness to all, including dogs, oneself, clients, and other pet professionals (even those who disagree).
For educators: Prioritizing learning over teaching. Maximize opportunities for the student to learn autonomously, with observant attunement and minimal intrusion on the learning process.
Maximizing dog's agency - the ability to opt in or out of activities - as much as is possible for the wellbeing of the animal.
Behavior problems are the number one reason people give for surrendering a dog to a shelter.
4 million dogs are euthanized each year in shelters.
Training your dog can be a rewarding experience.
Get out and have fun with your dog!
