Helpful information to get your den started:
Booking Park Buildings
To book rooms at city parks, email Rick Cotter, Community Services Coordinator - (408) 730-7335, and ask for "Non-Profit Qualification Documents." He'll send you a couple short forms you will need to complete and return in order to qualify for the city's special discounted rate for non-profit organizations. We suggest including both Pack # and Den # in your organization name, e.g. "Cub Scout Pack 409, Den x" to help the city distinguish between you and dens from other packs (or other dens from our pack).
Once you've filed your documents with the city, you can book rooms at the parks for your den meetings. The main thing to consider is who to list as authorized contacts for your den, since those are the people allowed to pick up the keys for the park buildings. In addition to the Den Leader(s), consider having a parent in your den take on the regular job of being the person who picks up the key and returns it the next day (keys must always be returned the following day). It's a small job, but a good one to have off of the Den Leader's plate!
