Youth Protection Training:
Pack 1509 is committed to having trained leaders and as many adults (leaders and parents) trained in BSA's youth protection policies to keep all boys participating in our programs safe.
This is an online program required of all leaders. Leaders who have completed this program wear a "Trained" patch on their uniform sleeve to indicate compliance with this. Leaders are required to renew their YPT training every two years.
All activities require at least two adults. One must be a trained adult leader.
We also think it is important that all parents be familiar with the BSA's policies regarding child protection and how we keep your son safe. Therefore, the pack encourages ALL parents to complete BSA's youth protection training.
To do so, follow the link below. You will need to establish an account on the BSA website (on the www.myscouting.scouting.org website via the "My Scouting" link). Please be sure to print out the certificate at the end!

Leader Training:
Leaders are asked to complete the training requirements for their position (in addition to YPT). There are general online courses (This is Scouting) applicable for all positions. Each position also has specific training modules (for Tiger leaders, Wolf Leaders, etc) as well. These can also be accessed via the My Scouting link above.
In addition to required online training courses, leaders (and interested parents are encouraged to complete in-person courses to expand the activities that our pack can offer. These are offered periodically through the Colonial District of our Council as well as at Council-wide training days. We particularly encourage parents who are NOT leaders to take the BALOO training (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation). This is training on basic camping skills (good for non-campers) as well as BSA's rules/guidelines for camping with cub scouts. BALOO training is offered at the two council-wide training days as well as as a stand-alone course throughout the year.
Follow the links below for more details.
