Ovie Pauline Gilmore Wardlaw, 87, died June 6, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born June 28, 1917, in Itawamba County to the late William Byrd Gilmore and Willie Amy Raden Gilmore. She was a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church. She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation.
Services were June 9 at the Fulton United Methodist Church with burial in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jean Wardlaw Cunningham and husband, John, of Germantown (TN), and Wanda Pauline Wardlaw Gaines of New Albany; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wardlaw of Somerville (TN); eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Relder Wardlaw, on Oct. 30, 2001; a son, Robert Harold Wardlaw; a great-grandson, Robert Harold "Trey" Wardlaw III; two sisters, Lena Duncan and Luna Whitesides; a brother, Shelby Gilmore; and her parents.
