CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Charles Paul Cunningham, 81, of Chaffee died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 8, 1920, at Chaffee, son of Charles Henry and Edith Lou Harrell Cunningham.
Cunningham was collector for city of Chaffee 34 years. He was secretary of Chaffee R-2 School Board 28 years. He was a 50-year member of Chaffee Masonic Lodge 615, 50-year member of Chaffee Order of Eastern Star 48, and Valley of St. Louis Scottish Rite.
He was baptized in the Methodist church April 14, 1946. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, director of MYF many years, taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. He also assisted in serving communion, was a chairman of the church board, trustee chairman, and member of the Parish Relations Committee.
Survivors include four nephews, Tom Cunningham of Chaffee, Steve Cunningham of Plano, Texas, John and Joe Cunningham of Germantown, Tenn.; two nieces, Linda Wessel of Chaffee, Charlene Kraft of Bartlett, Tenn.; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Friends may call at First United Methodist Church after 4:30 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Marty Blakey. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund at Chaffee.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
