Intelligence

My thoughts on intelligence have to do with the fact that a truly intelligent actor can approach a “new” situation and be able to come up with a good response.This is self-organization. Intelligence is really self organizing. In a conversation we expect the”other” to be able to self organize in simple ways. But intelligence is more than just conversations. When we do design work we are expected to self organize at a higher level.

When I develop software I need to discuss computers and computer use with my customers - the users. I need to do that in order to anticipate the way they work with the computer. I need to anticipate what they will do when they are using my program. So then, I can write code that covers most of the things they will do with the program so I get the ‘response in use’ I need from them. This will make the software appear intelligent to them.
