Gracie is woken in the night. Noises speak to her. Gracie knows that the dark doesn’t speak. Perhaps it’s the stars? But something whooshes out of her curtains: a funny creature. The Curucuchoo sings and flies and gets Gracie out of bed to play!
In the morning the Curucuchoo hides away. But, Gracie is surrounded by creatures: she sees friends everywhere, on the taps and up the walls. And in the park they find her: the Boo, the Roar, Squeak and Honk. They follow her home and, along with the Curucuchoo, cause chaos.
A gentle, fun story, intriguing with its mysterious curtains and mischievous puppet. The show invites its young audience to play along with Gracie and her new friends. Expect to hide & boo; to roar, squeak and frighten the cat! A wonderful first theatre experience.
At the Mini Playhouse Hastings, hosted by Spun Glass Theatre, July 2023
‘[My son] absolutely loved the show, when we got home he acted out the story beginning to end and then we made a green paper puppet Curucuchoo together. He really enjoyed how interactive the storytelling was and connected with the repetition of familiar times of the day like cleaning teeth, going to bed etc. although [my daughter] was only 1 when she saw it she was also very absorbed in the performance.’ Parent
‘The Curucuchoo transformed our Mini Playhouse and engaged children with a bit of theatre magic. It's style cast young children as participants in the world of make believe and is the perfect storytelling event.’
