Our Families are rooted in the faith and life of our ancestors.
Our experiences with them shapes our thoughts, perceptions, practices, and decisions.
We learn to celebrate our strengths and joys - praising God for the richness of Family Blessings. God showers us with Love.
We learn to acknowledge our challenges and weaknesses - turning to God for guidance, courage, strength. God helps us to carry, to learn how, and to overcome the crosses we must bear. God showers us with His Mercy and Peace.
St. Paul admonishes us as parents in remembering our parents and in our role as parents with the words in Ephesians 6:1-4: Children, obey your parents [in the Lord], for this is right. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise, “that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up with the training and instruction of the Lord.
He teaches how to do this in Colossians 3:12-17: Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Gather your families together.
Pray as family to God who loves us.
Bless each family member.
Share with all families.
