Cabin Safety & Maintenance

Fire Safety

In the event of a fire or other emergency, such as need for an ambulance or sheriff, immediately call 911. Report the event as occurring in "Camp Sherman, Jefferson County".

Prevention and planning are central to keeping your cabin and our community safe. Always be aware of current fire danger levels and restrictions. Always follow forest service guidelines. In conjunction with the Forest Service, we have developed a list of recommendations so that you can Be Fire Smart! The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District has excellent information on current regulations and good practices for outdoor burning. If you have further questions, or are not sure of what to do, contact the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District or the Forest Service.

A good way to be prepared for a possible fire emergency is to register with the Jefferson County Citizen Emergency Notification Program. The programs uses an online sign-up form for the Frontier Regional Alert Notification system. To enroll, you will need to:

    • Create an account with the system

    • Sign in to your account

    • When filling out the online form, use your Camp Sherman 5-digit tract address. This is the key used to determine your location for notification purposes.

There are some circumstances none of us can control. To help protect your investment should disaster occur, we strongly recommend that you look into the NFH-Endorsed Cabin Insurance Program.
