Nile is a Research Fish Biologist with United States Geological Survey’s Biological Research Division.  He has a B.S. from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in Biology and a M.S. from the University of Missouri in Fisheries Management.  His primary responsibility in the Toxicology Branch is to develop novel approaches for evaluating the bioavailability and toxicity of contaminants in water, sediment, or diets to fish and aquatic invertebrates.  In his free time, he enjoys canoeing, hiking and photography.

Co-Secretary

Sara Whiting

Bayer Crop Science

saraannwhiting@gmail.com

Sara works as a Senior Scientist at Bayer Crop Science in the Exposure Assessment group.  In her spare time, Sara enjoys lots of different outdoor activities.  The picture is of Sara on the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park in 2015.

Co-Secretary

Josh is a Research & Development Specialist in the Pollinator Ecotoxicology Laboratory, within the Environmental Effects and Risk Assessment group, at Bayer Crop Science.

Student Representative

 Corinne Sweeny

University of Missouri

Corinne is a Ph.D. student at the University of Missouri. She received her B.S. and M.S. in ecology from the University of Georgia (go dawgs!). Her research focus is on agrochemicals and impacts to non-target organisms. In her free time, Corinne likes reading, watching sports, enjoying a good beer, and spending time with Mila (her cat), Bill (her partner), and Vivian and Isabel (Bill's hilarious daughters).

Past- President

Chad Boeckman

Corteva Agriscience

chad.boeckman@corteva.com

Chad is a Research Scientist in the Ecotoxicology and Safety Assessment Laboratory at Corteva Agriscience.  He is responsible for characterizing the safety of pre-commercial products with emphasis on non-target organisms and authors environmental risk assessments for global regulatory submissions.  He received a MS and Ph.D. in Zoology from Oklahoma State University with research focused on aquatic toxicology, invasive species and environmental risk assessment.  In his free time, Chad enjoys outdoor activities including: soccer, triathlons, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and kayaking.

Board Member

 Dave Soucek

USGS-CERC

Dr. Soucek is a Research Biologist at the U.S. Geological Survey’s, Columbia Environmental Research Center.  He received his B.A. in Zoology from Miami University (Ohio), his M.S. in Zoology from Clemson University, and his Ph.D. in Biology from Virginia Tech in 2001.  His research has been focused broadly on aquatic toxicology of freshwater organisms, particularly invertebrates, with emphasis on: investigating exposure to, and fate and effects of contaminants in aquatic systems in laboratory and field studies; development and improvement of toxicity testing methods for freshwater arthropods; and investigating factors that influence the toxicity of aquatic contaminants.

Board Member

Jason Magnuson

USGS-CERC

Jason is a Research Biologist at the USGS-Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC). He received his B.S. in Biology at Lander University, M.S. in Biology as the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and Ph.D. in Biology at the University of North Texas in 2018. He completed two post-doctoral fellowships at the University of California, Riverside and University of Stavanger in Norway. His research focuses on understanding the impact of environmental and abiotic stressors to fish health and development by utilizing omic-based approaches to behavioral level effects. Recently, his research has focused on the effects of crude oil exposure and pharmaceuticals to early life stage fish development and visual function. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and playing with his dog, Miley, in his free time.
