2019

This was a special joint chapter meeting with the Ozark-Prairie and Mid-South Regional Chapters of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. The meeting was from May 13 –15, 2019 at the Creve Coeur campus of Bayer Crop Science in St. Louis, Missouri.

The theme was "Conservation and Ecology of Native Pollinators"

There were about 50 people that attended the meeting. There were 13 oral presentations and 16 poster presentations. The keynote speaker, Ed Spevak, of the St. Louis Zoo gave an engaging talk on native bees on Wednesday, May 15th. The final agenda for the meeting is attached below. Attendees are pictured below.

Thanks to our corporate sponsors (Corteva Agriscience and Eurofins Agroscience Services) $100 travel awards were given to students that presented at the regional meeting. This is in addition to waiving the registration fees for student presenters. Additionally, thanks go to Bayer Crop Science for hosting the meeting and providing lunches for the attendees on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The student award winners from the Ozark Prairie Chapter are pictured below. From the left, Amber Tompsett-Higley (OP-SETAC President), Taylor Walton from Oklahoma State University won 2nd place poster presentation, Sarah Hileman from Oklahoma State University won 1st place platform presentation, Tim Black from Oklahoma State University won 1st place platform presentation, and Christopher Goodchild from Oklahoma State University won 1st place poster presentation. First place winners will receive a $300 award for travel expenses to attend the national SETAC meeting. North America SETAC is also providing $200 for both of the first place winners for travel to the meeting in November. Second place winners will receive $200 from OP-SETAC to attend the national meeting. Congrats to the winners!

The student award winners from the MidSouth Chapter are pictured below. From the left, Amelia Atwell from Arkansas State University won best platform presentation, Jennifer Bouldin (MidSouth chapter representative), and Andressa Alves Augusto from Arkansas State University won best poster presentation. Winners will receive a $200 award for travel expenses to attend the national SETAC meeting. North America SETAC is also providing $200 for both of the first place winners for travel to the meeting in November.
