The most important thing is to find comfortable shoes for your feet.
Injury is not an acceptable price to pay for style!
The range of latin shoe styles can be even more overwhelming since they are more changeable with fashions.
In general, the shoes recommended for beginners are T-bars as they give the foot most support.
If you have difficult feet (narrow or wide), it is often best to try a shoe with adjustable straps across the front of the shoe to ensure a snug fit. There are a few styles out there, look out for the buckle on the front part of the shoe which marks the adjustable strap!
Heel Style
Latin shoes tend to come with the Flare (or IDS) style of heel. The larger base makes it more stable and balanced.
Some manufacturers, like Supadance, also offer a prettier 'Ultra-Slim' heel. They only come in 3 inches and are not recommend for anything other than a very experienced dancer.
