My name is Steven Crescenti, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from SUNY Upstate Medical University. My academic interests are pediatric emergency medicine and addiction medicine. In my free time, I love running, hiking, camping, cooking, and traveling. I’m very excited to be working in NYC and looking forward to meeting the faculty and residents at NYP!


Yanisbel Ruiz
Georgetown University

My name is Yanisbel Ruiz and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Georgetown University School of Medicine. My professional interests within emergency medicine include critical care, EMS and Health policy. In my free time I enjoy going on runs, hiking, spending time at the beach and discovering new restaurants with cute plates and silly activities. I'm very excited to spend some time exploring New York, learning about the healthcare system in this state and caring for the minority community within the area.

My name is Joseph Sharp. I am a Sub-intern visiting from Tufts University School of Medicine. Within Emergency Medicine I have an interest in Disaster Medicine, EMS, events, medical education, and pediatrics. I am originally from Detroit, MI and a proud alum of the University of Michigan.


Katherine (Katie) Mcpherson Albert Einstein

My name is Katie and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. My academic interests include point-of-care ultrasound, toxicology, and trauma-informed care. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy running, hiking, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Eman Meky
UC Davis

My name is Eman Meky, and I am a Sub-intern visiting from UC Davis. I have a keen interest in point of care ultrasound, particularly its applications in diagnostic imaging. Outside of my professional interests, I love watching and playing sports. Additionally, I am an avid foodie, and I am very excited to explore the food scene in New York City!

My name is Michaela and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from New York Medical College. I am interested professionally in Global and Public Health and critical care. In my free time, I love to read, try out new recipes in the kitchen, and go on walks along the water.

My name is Svati and I’m a sub-intern visiting from Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. My professional interests include social EM, sports medicine, ultrasound, and medical education. In my personal time, I enjoy kickboxing/cycling, reading on the beach, trying new foods, and spending time with family and friends!

My name is Kayla, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Emory School of Medicine. My professional interests include global health research and working with underrepresented communities to increase diversity in healthcare. Outside of medicine I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, and have spent the last six months trying my hand at aerial silks!

My professional interests include pediatric emergency medicine, global health, and critical care medicine. In my free time, I enjoy trying new restaurants, going to workout classes, and visiting with family and friends. I’m looking forward to working with everyone on my rotation this month!

Alexander (Alex) Costa
Rush Medical College

My name is Alex Costa, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Rush Medical College. Professionally, I am interested in administration/operations, informatics, and simulation. Originally from Rockland County, I lived in NY for most of my life before moving to Chicago for medical school. In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, skiing—Mount Snow in Vermont has been my home mountain, though I recently skied Vail, Breckenridge, and Beaver Creek with friends—and exploring restaurants with friends.

Boston University

My name is Judy and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Boston University. I worked in state government after college and in medical school, my interests have been in patient advocacy and human rights. In the future, I hope to work on value-based payment models and healthcare operations. Having grown up in Queens and Long Island, I love making and consuming all food. Surfing has been my latest workout obsession. Can’t wait to meet everyone!

My name is Katie Duckworth (she/her/hers) and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Within EM, I am interested in ultrasound, SIM, and QI. I also love hot yoga, live music (especially jam bands and bluegrass), and thrift shopping. I’m looking forward to spending a month with you all!

South Carolina Greenville

My name is Darby and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. My professional interests include community engagement research, medical student education, cohosting the podcast, Coffee Rounds, and critical care. In my free time, I enjoy running, indoor cycling, reading, and cooking whole-food plant-based meals. 

Nicole Zhao

Stony Brook

My name is Nicole Zhao, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Some of my interests include geriatric and palliative emergency medicine, critical care, as well as global EM. For the last eleven years, I have been a caretaker for my grandmother with Alzheimer's disease and I hope to combine my love for emergency medicine with my passion for geriatric medicine in my future career. Some of my hobbies include trying new restaurants/foods, traveling (especially unique hiking areas), catching sunsets, working out at Orangetheory, plant propagation, and glass blowing. I am very excited to meet and learn from the leaders of emergency medicine at NYP-WCM!
