A wee digression from my usual "new replica here" SR page.
I have been working with Claude AI for about three months, attempting to develop a specification-driven generator for slide rule scales.
My original goal for this project was to complete one of the projects on my bucket list, which I have been calling the "Loga Project".
This was to be a specification-driven generator for the gridiron flavour of long-scale slide rules. While quite varied, they share a lot of similar design elements.
It seemed clear that the similar feature set of these devices should make it possible to design a standard configuration file layout; that configuration file could then be read by a separate program to generate any arbitrary "loga style" calculator. I wanted to also develop a GUI editor to create and edit configuration files, and a single program that would read the configuration file and generate a PostScript version of that specification.
My latest foray into this was the Oughtred Circle of Proportions project. I have begun programming with Python lately. It's a fun language, to be honest. I used a Python list structure to codify the scales.
