Gilson Atlas Calculator

This project dates back to 2002. The Gilson Atlas was a slide rule I realy to own but at the time, couldn't afford one. They were rare, or seemed so. These files attempt to reproduce the Gilson Atlas model III, and are based on Henry Aldinger's and Ed Chamberlain's excellent article, Gilson Slide Rules - Part II - The Large Rules, JOS Vol. 9, No. 2, Fall 2000.

The front scales are patterned after the text and the image provided in the article. The colour bands on the Atlas III are not reproduced, nor are the constants found around the centre of the scale (I couldn't make them out).

The rear scale is a reproduction from my Gilson Binary rule, which according to the text is the same as found on the Atlas III. Again, the yellow pattern found in the authentic rule are absent. Later, I actually bought my own model, which helped me see some finer details that were not apparent in the sources I've seen.

These PDF files are created to fit on letter sized paper, and can be printed using the 'print to fit' option in order to fit A4
