Mrs Tina Huang is an experienced string specialist and credentialed music teacher who is continuing her twelfth year as the Orchestra Director at Newbury Park High School. She holds a Masters in Music Education (with orchestra emphasis) and Bachelors in Music Performance from Northwestern University. She also holds a Masters in Education from Columbia University. She has studied with Vladimir Zyskind, Anat Malkin and Dmitry Rachmanov, James Kjelland, author of the Strictly Strings series, Dr. Victor Yampolsky and Dr. Robert Hasty in conducting. She has adjudicated the Music Teacher’s National Association Concerto Competition for Southern California, Moorpark high School and School, Buena High School, and has coached for the California State in Northridge Youth Orchestra. Prior to moving to California, she subsequently taught at a number of prestigious Chicago high schools, including New Trier High School and Glenbrook South High School. Some of her performances include performance at Australia's Sydney Opera House, four years with the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Orchestras and the New York All-State Symphony Orchestra. In addition to being the concertmistress of her high school orchestra, Mrs Huang has participated in various symphonies at MSM and Northwestern. She is the founding Advisor for the NPHS Chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society , teaches IB Music and Music Fundamentals and is the founding director of the strings program at the NPHS feeder, Sequoia Middle School. She was nominated as a CLAES Nobel Educator Of Distinction in 2023 for her work at NPHS and Sequoia Strings.
