Program Description

With only nine students back in 2013, the Newbury Park High School Orchestra has grown to a program with over sixty members and with four levels of orchestral instruction. The Orchestra has consistently earned Superior ratings at the Southern California Band and Orchestra Festival, and select students have performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall. The program has received first place at the 2022 & 2019 Anaheim Heritage Festival and 2015 Heritage Festival in San Diego. The orchestra has also performed in California's very own Segerstorm Concert Hall in March 2017 as part of the prestigious Heritage Festival of Gold. Check out clips of the various performing ensembles under "Pictures & Videos" and read about all the strings courses under "Course Offerings."

The program's historic comeback under the direction of Tina Huang is documented in the Thousand Oaks Acorn article entitled "Almost Silenced, NPHS Orchestra Experiences Rebirth."
