2025-2026 Concert/Chamber Orchestra Honors Audition Information

While all incoming freshman coming from a middle school strings program are generally automatically enrolled in the 0 period String Orchestra. No audition is required to get into String Orchestra (Orchestra/Strings CP).

For any incoming students who would like to try out for the Concert Orchestra (period 3) and/or Chamber Orchestra Honors (period 6) ensembles must submit their audition video into Mrs. Huang at least two weeks prior to submitting their course registration form to the counselors. Sycamore and Sequoia students need to take care of any auditions before the high school counselor visits (usually around April). They cannot select either class without passing the auditions first. Audition & Placement Reminders:

• Audition criteria: overall technique, overall musicality, mastery of music, responsiveness, past participation in their current ensemble

• Each student will receive a reply within 1-2 days after submission that it was received; they will be notified of their audition result in a week

• All auditions need to be completed before course registration - include email verification for counselors if placed into a higher level course 

• If an incoming freshman is accepted into Concert Orchestra or Chamber Orchestra Honors, they will need to consult their counselor on their individual schedule placement and ensure there are no scheduling conflicts before the summer. It is not uncommon for incoming students to have to take online or summer classes to address certain general  and pass those courses and submit their grades to their high school counselor before the start of the new schoolyear in order to have the available space in their schedule to fit in this class.
