Coursework

This is an individual coursework based on a series of research studies, with a groupwork component. It is worth 50 marks, out of 100 unit marks. As a group you will choose one NLP research study, and research it thoroughly. Look at the NLP Topics (where you can see some links to work done by previous students) and the sources link to get started with choice of topic. The AAAI web site (see sources link) is a good place to start.

The group will give a presentation of their study, and as a group you will submit a PowerPoint presentation to me (inmandw@lsbu.ac.uk). Use the template attached below. This will form the group work component of the coursework. The date to submit the PowerPoint slides is shown on the left.

You will also need to individually summarise the research study after you hear the presentation and look at the slides. These will be compiled into an individual paper coursework from you. You will get a group mark for the group work on your research study, and an individual mark for your summary of each research study presentation by the other groups.

You will need to submit a Coursework Front sheet, a Coursework summary and a set of Research review notes (see below). The date to submit these documents to the office is shown on the left.

To summarise you need to make one electronic submission to inmandw@lsbu.ac.uk and one paper submission either to me or to the office. The deadlines are shown on the left!

1. Submit the completed group research presentation using the template below (presentation template.ppt) to inmandw@lsbu.ac.uk
2. Submit your individual paper report, which summarises all the presentations. Print the Word documents below and complete them. The report consists of a front sheet (A Coursework Front Sheet.doc) a coursework summary (A Coursework summary.doc) a set of research review notes for the presentations (Research review notes.doc) and a printed copy of your group's slides.
