Learning Objectives

Through completing this explorative game-informed task you should:

• • Gain awareness of some of the common Land Feature keys.

  • Gain ideas for lesson plans and/or learning activities around map legends, signage and symbols.

  • Have opportunity to discuss and reflect on your ideas with other players.

How to play

• 1. Draw a tree!

1. Take a look at some photographs and images of trees - how do they compare with your own image?

   1. Compare your drawing with the Digimap for Schools map key and with drawings from your colleagues and comment on the images.

2. Think of 3 simple ideas for how you could highlight your own teaching area through the comparison between real life experience and imagery and the use of symbols on maps and signage. Save these by submitting the form.

3. Vote on ideas submitted so far by your peers and reflect on what you like about their idea. If you think there are ways an idea could be made even better then suggest this in your comments.

4. Take the best and most relevant idea/s and try it out with a group of students in class. Once they have completed the task you could get them to reflect and comment on how that teaching idea work so that they help develop it for next time.
