Each task will encourage the player to reflect on the DfS service and/or the use of other mapping and location resources in their own practice. For this reason it is hoped that teaching staff from various types and levels of schools would be included in the detailed design of some game tasks and this is the reason that the overall goals and structure of the game is explained here but a prescriptive lists of individual tasks and activities is not provided.
An example activity, which directly addresses the use of map keys and symbols, is provided as an example task here but it is hoped that other tasks would involve real world group work related to DfS features (for example comparing notes following visits to specific features such as those marked by the Tourist and Leisure Information symbols, or collecting field images following a simple map related goal similar to the “Visual Bingo” or “Photochain” Flickr games (Davies 2006)).
