Past Monthly Meetings

May 2024

Our final meeting before summer break was a pizza party and game night.  The new board members were also approved.  Wishing all members a great summer.  Looking forward to seeing you in September.

April 2024

Jodi Wolgamuth gave a very good speech on health and fitness.  She gave several recommendations to help us develop healthier eating habits such as staying hydrated, mindful eating, planning meals, and keeping a food journal.  

March 2024

The York County New Friends shared a few rounds of fun bingo competition and prizes during their March meeting. The group also collected donations of canned goods and boxed food for the church pantry as a community guidance project.

February 2024

Our guest speaker, Mr Alec Conlon, from Drayer Physical Therapy gave a very informative talk.  He then opened the floor to questions.  it was great having many of our concerns and questions addressed. We also collected personal items for the Love Your Neighbor Project.  

January 2024

It is always fun to receive and give a gift.  The January meeting was a laugh while exchanging White Elephant gifts.  Coats were also collected by the group to support Coats of Friendship.

December 2023

The New Friends holiday meeting featured a fun-filled evening playing a couple games, telling holiday tales and enjoying a gift exchange. Members also collected scarves, hats and gloves as a donation to the community.

November 2023

Roosevelt Tavern was an outstanding venue for our November meeting.  The meal was delicous and both service and fellowship were great.  It was a wonderful holiday luncheon for all that attended.   Please check out the photos!

October 2023

A treat was had by all at the October meeting.  It was a fun evening with some members wearing costumes, playing the game of stuff your trick or treat bag    and best treat of all:  great fellowship.                                                                         

September 2023

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.  What a wonderful time reconnecting with old and new friends at the first monthly meeting after summer break with a terrific ice cream social.  

May 2023

A previously canceled meeting led to a combo year-end Spring Fling, Christmas Gift Exchange, and pizza party during the May meeting. Those attending discovered how much fun it is to bend the “rules” and enjoy good times as they come! 

April 2023

The New Friends learned about container gardening as presented by a Master Gardener from the Penn State Extension Service during the April meeting. When spring weather decides to cooperate, they will be ready to work with their green thumbs.

March 2023

Bingo was blast at the New Friends March meeting! After one particular member was finished with her (three times in a row) winning streak, others were able to also enjoy winning gift cards. It was all in good fun, and the competition was the enjoyable kind. 

February 2023

The New Friends group learned about scams and how to avoid them during a presentation by a local police officer about scams. The discussion also covered  steps to take to mininize damage if caught in one.

January 2023

The highly anticipated White Elephant gift exchange was featured at the January meeting of New Friends of York County. The annual event gives members a chance to offload unwanted Christmas presents to each other. It never disappoints!

December 2022

Unfortunately, the planned December pizza party was canceled due to bad weather. The pizza party has been rescheduled to the year-end meeting in May 2023. 

November 2022 

"Women's Health" was discussed during the November meeting when the featured speaker was a Wellspan York Hospital physician. 

October 2022

The New Friends group enjoyed a lively social time and dinner at York's Crimson Grill for their October meeting. Regular meetings at will resume in November.

September 2022

A Meet and Greet session kicked off the regular monthly meetings of the New Friends of York County on Thursday, Sept. 15.  It was great chatting about summer happenings and meeting new members.

May 2022

The annual year-end dinner, catered by Olive Garden, provided an opportunity for New Friends members to say "farewell" to those who are moving out of the area, and to also remember fondly a friend who recently passed. Door prizes were awarded during a short business meeting following the meal.

April 2022

New Friends members enjoyed a White Bunny Gift Exchange at their April meeting. There was plenty of fun, stealing of gifts and lots of laughs. Hygiene items were also collected for the church's homeless backpack program.

March 2022

The two young gentlemen who started the local Coats of Friendship organization explained the community outreach’s program during the March meeting of The New Friends of York County. The program has greatly expanded during the past several years, and New Friends members helped by generously bringing more coats, hats, scarves, and mittens – all for children and adults - or cash to donate. 

February 2022

Mew Friends members enjoyed hearing about the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), located at Penn State York, during the February monthly meeting. OLLI's mission is to provide educational, social, travel, and volunteer experiences for mature adults to enhance and enrich their lives. 

January 2022

The New Friends annual White Elephant Exchange originally set for this month was canceled due to the pandemic. Instead, a fun Zoom trivia session was held with three attendees winning gift cards for their extensive knowledge of obscure bits of information. ... Or maybe they were just "good guessers."
