Our December monthly meeting will be moved up a week to December 14th for our annual New Friends Holiday Dinner! I'm looking forward to celebrating the Holiday Season with all of you as we enjoy a delicious dinner buffet catered by Food for Thought Catering. (I just got a peek at the menu and I can hardly wait!) After dinner, we'll have some fun with a gift exchange and some caroling! Please bring a $15 wrapped gift in order to participate in the gift exchange. Gift exchange is optional.

I'm hoping that you're able to take some time to relax with those closest to you amid the always busy Holiday events and activities, the shopping and wrapping, the hustle and bustle. Wishing each of you all of the best as we wrap up 2017 and kick off 2018!

November Board Message

posted Oct 27, 2017, 8:25 AM by New Friends York County

It is hard to believe that we are heading into November because the weather has been so unseasonably warm.  Regardless of the forecast, it is time to start thinking about the holiday season—being thankful and celebrating our good fortune.
One of the things that I am thankful for are the friendships I have made through my membership in New Friends.  Although and perhaps because we are a  varied group of women I always find that I have a good time when I come to a monthly meeting or attend another New Friends event.
Please join the fun this month at our regular membership meeting which will feature the return of James McClure from the York Daily Record.  Remember how we enjoyed his talk on the Underground Railroad last year?  He plans to fascinate us in November talking about the infamous Hex murder.  Please join us at Perkins to hear about this intriguing event in York County history.

Hope to see you there!

In friendship,
The New Friends of York County Membership Chair

October Board Message

posted Sep 27, 2017, 8:12 AM by New Friends York County   [ updated Sep 27, 2017, 8:15 AM ]

Our October meeting will be held at the Leg-Up Farmers Market instead of Perkins Restaurant. We will have a guest speaker, Julie Stefanski, a registered dietitian. Julie will be speaking about "Nutrition for the Maturing Woman"—we look forward to learning lots of information! Light refreshments will be served.

Our year is quickly heading into the holiday season. We need to take some time to enjoy the fall colors, cooler weather but most importantly, our friendships both old and new.

Hope you will join us! Prospective members are always welcome and you don't need to join as a member to check out if the group is for you.

In friendship,
The New Friends of York County Board

February Message from the Board

posted Jan 26, 2017, 1:57 PM by New Friends York County

Hello Friends and Happy February!

Well, the days are getting a little bit "longer", helping us to trust that pleasant weather is ahead. Just a few fun facts about Februarywe know that it is Black History Month and you wont be surprised that it is Chocolate Lovers Month with a nod to Valentines Day. Some of you may know that February is American Heart Month as well as Bird- Feeding Month. More surprising to you, though, may be that February is Cherry Month, Potato Lovers Month, Grapefruit Month, Canned Food Month and Hot Breakfast Month! (Making this month a perfect time to try out Breakfast Club, dont you think?)

We also squeeze quite a few holidays and events into February with Ground Hogs Day, Valentines Day, Presidents Day and Mardi Gras (or Fastnacht, as it is known in Central PA), and dont forget the Superbowl!

So between and amongst all of the eating and celebrating, and in keeping with the "Big Game", please be sure to attend our monthly meeting on February 16th when we will enjoy some game playing. We will be playing a fun game that we call Fishbowl which always produces lots of laughter. This will also be a great time to bring a friend who would like to meet some new friends! Hope to see you there!
