The project of a political Europe since 1948
Introduction
Europe emerged very weakened from the Second World War. European integration is seen as a means of ensuring peace and reconstruction. The pro-European movements, often from the Resistance, are trying to mobilize public opinion in favor of a political Europe that would unify the continent. But there are divergences between those who want to achieve the United States of Europe and those who want a simple association of states. We must also count on the opponents of the European project.
