Aquila Takes NYYC Annual Regatta 1st Prize!

In a grueling battle over 6 races, Geoff Davis at the helm of Aquila was unbeatable, with an amazing performance of 2-1-1-1-2-2. Osprey (Mike McCaffrey) was a close 2nd, followed by Firefly (Cory Silken) in 3rd Place, then Papoose, Surprise, Squaw, Wistful, Shona, & Whistler. Argument did not compete. Saturday started with a light NW breeze, then an abandoned race when the wind died, a delay, then two races in a building southerly. Sunday had ideal conditions with a 10-15 kt SW breeze. The S Class raced on a drop mark windward-leeward course of about 4 miles. The crews were kept busy in every race with two spinnaker legs, except the third race that had only one spinnaker leg. Congratulations to Geoff Davis, extraordinary Aquila helmsman!
