Bristol Yacht Club Regatta

JULY 16, 2022

Paul Del Nero- Vindex, # 30 will spearhead the racing event here and  Alan, Nick and I will be responsible for the social events Friday evening July 15, and Dinner/Awards July 16. 

The Friday evening event will be at the Herreshoff Museum in one of the outbuildings. Refreshments and lite fare will be served. We are still developing our plan for a speaker and a small presentation from the S Class to the Museum at this event. 

 Paul has suggested we name the main Saturday event:

The Bristol Yacht Club, Peter Hallock, S Class Invitational.  For engraving purposes we will use YC. ( remember Sheldon volunteered a trophy for this weekend's race at our meeting :-) 

 Peter Hallock was a lifelong member of the Bristol YC and owned Lady Luck from 1980 to 2014. He passed in 2021. 

The boat was briefly in the hands of the Herreshoff Marine Museum and then purchased by Nick Sollicitto, our Secretary /Treasurer, who sails it very well as we all know.

We are planning this event to encompass a lot. We will invite former members and crews of the S Class. It will be a reunion and awards dinner of sorts.

Our dinner food will be catered and we have full use of the club for the evening of July 16. The inside venue is very nicely laid out for those who have not been at the facility; the outside porch and a lawn area has a great view of the harbor.

Please note, the S Class will pick up the tab for the dinner and refreshments for the evening. We encourage you to invite your family, young and old, and guests.

There will be a small entrance fee for each boat to be determined by Paul.

What is most important about this event is participation. We will try to make that as easy as possible and encourage you to talk this up with your friends.

 If you need help getting a mooring for the weekend, Bill Lynn (HMM) , Andy Tyska (Bristol Marine), and Bristol YC have all committed to help find us a mooring in the harbor.

Herreshoff Classic Regatta

August 27-28-29. 

This will be the last official weekend event for S Class racing. You all know the drill. We hope to see you there under the tent to enjoy the festivities and see the McCaffrey trophy once again.
