Why V?

V ≠ some disillusioned message of aimless revolution based upon the history related to Guy Fawkes.

The paramount message behind the movie V for Vendetta, along with the likes of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, and Atlas Shrugged, is this:

Individuals can stand together, even in anonymity, against the tyrannical oppression of an authoritarian collectivist STATE which has failed in its legal duty of protecting the unalienable Natural Right of the individual — and be VICTORIOUS!

We the People must again recognize and embrace the principles of Natural Rights as the only human means of maximizing peace, prosperity, and liberty, and set such a profound example to the rest of the collectivist world.
