================================================================================================

Past Meeting - January 11 - - Ala Wai Community Center

Guests: From the Hawaii State Federation of Chapters. Hank Magee, President; and Cora Vellocido, Secretary.

Our guest speaker, Hank Magee, explained the process of closing a chapter and "merging" with another. The process, which takes many months, involves several scheduled special single topic meetings with 7 days prior notification to members.

The 1st special meeting, for voting members only - The issues, pros and cons, associated with the closing of a chapter would be explained by a federation officer. This would be followed by a vote, with the majority of the members present deciding.

A 2nd, special meeting, would be scheduled for all members, voting and non-voting members, where the closing chapter would select another chapter, where members would be assigned. Note: In any event, members of the closing chapter would have the option to transfer to any chapter if the "selection" does not meet their objectives.

Note: The first special meeting will be scheduled and a notification letter will be sent to voting members by either 1) e-mail, where e-mail addresses have been provided, or 2) regular mail.

Other - The Chapter 311 dues structure, currently set at $3/yr, is the lowest in the state. Consideration for a higher amount should be considered since the net is only $2, once the $1, (tax) for the Hi Federation is paid. Operating expenses, room rental, postage etc are considerations in the annual budget.
