Short Statement of problem being solved:
At the time of every boarding and deboarding passengers and crew face problem of less room for movement of passengers as well as for crew members. This congestion causes inconvenience to passengers and delay to the flights.
Short Statement of Your Solution:
There can be solution to this problem without subtracting the seating area and that can be a rotating & folding chair seating arrangement. This can be done by just putting some effort on seat designing. As per the current rules and certification for seats, which say that seats has to be non movable all the time throughout the flight duration keeping this in mind same can be achieved through below idea:
Each seat will be supported by only one center leg which will provide rotation to the seat. (rotating seats same as we have in our office).
Each seat will be foldable as the horizontal foam body will fold vertically (same as we have folding seats in movie theater). To sit on them you have to open them and sit.
Above mentioned both movements of the seats (rotation and folding) will be controlled by either by crew member or by pilot or by both.
All seats will be locked throughout the flight duration.
All seats will be unlocked only at the time of boarding and deboarding of plane.
Optionally there can be a latch installed so that once the seat is rotated to 90 degree angle from its expected position it will be user locked. Same user controlled latch can be installed for folding of the seats.
Now this can help as:
While boarding & before taxi: All the seats will be aligned parallel to aisle and will make more room for movement. Once everyone is seated and gates are closed the seats will be locked by crew/captain.
While deboarding & after taxi: Seats will be unlocked by captain. And once passenger getup from its seat, seat will fold and rotate parallel to aisle.
