Title: e-patrolling

Problem Statement: There are many security restricted areas like airport (not just the airport building but also entire airport boundary including runway area), aerodrome, Atomic sites, defense sites, Government disclosed sites, Line of Control and any site that has a security expose threat. Most of these sites are now being manually patrolled by security guards.

As of now there are CCTV cameras all over the buildings which covers most of the areas and are best for this purpose where you need 24x7 surveillance. But what about the surrounding boundary (fencing) of these campus areas where only manual patrolling is done and in some places manual patrolling is also not done or where some of the boundaries has electric fencing for trespassing which is now a days not much of use since there are drones through which anyone can get the inside video of a restricted area as well as can unload something into the campus area. There are some very highly confidential areas against which security/trespassing cannot be accepted

Drones can be a valuable solution to this problem but they comes with their own problems like limited flight time (can not fly forever without getting battery charged), cost (for hovering, gps path following, smart drone), high & frequent maintenance and they are prone to intentional external attacks or weather.

Solution: As a solution to this problem we need some thing which can replace manual patrolling system with an electronic system. So a solution:

    1. I thought of camera hanged on a cable line and will be running on that cable back and forth.

    2. Through cable line a continuous power source can be provided for endless running time of camera.

    3. Camera will keep on clicking the pictures at regular interval and will processes those images with the previous captured image at same spot. While doing image comparison if it finds any restricted body or material in its image then it will send the alert to the control station.

    4. Cable line will be tied between two poles and to cover larger distance you can keep on increasing the poles as per requirement (same as electricity line poles). The camera hanging on the rope via pulley will keep on traversing start and end poles (bypassing intermediate poles).

    5. Each pole will be equipped with cable tension measurer to ensure that cable is on right tension for camera to run. Same system will send alert if the cable is cutted off.

    6. Areas where external power is not possible there a solar panel can be attached to each pole and power can be drawn from electricity stored.

    7. This system can also be used as ad hoc security systems for ground base camps for military.

    8. Any tampering with cable or system will send alarm signal with exact section got tampered.

    9. This will be perfect for Line of Control areas. As you can use any high tech camera from thermal to night vision or motion detection.

Uniqueness:

    1. This system will always be sufficient to cover any odd structure area irrespective of size, terrain or climate challenged.

    2. It is a robust system that can run 24x7 without any halt.

    3. Now any wide area can be more secure and surveillance which was earlier being done via electric fencing, manual patrolling or by normal fencing.
