In my final semester in the USM Adult and Higher Education Master's program, I took Mike Brady's HRD 698 course, and used that time to develop the 'professionalism initiative' that I'd begun working on for our students in the veterinary technology program at York County Community College. This concept was inspired by comments made to me when I presented our new program to the Maine Veterinary Medical Association and though their response was generally positive they shared concerns that we not only provide students with strong technical skills, they were more concerned that we would prepare students to participate in a team environment in a meaningful way. I have attached two products from this class. One is the cumulative learning synthesis paper from my learning in the course which provides some background and the other defines the process developed. This process has been very helpful in our program. I ask that it not be copied without requesting permission as I have already been working on the potential publication of the process and I am also looking at offering workshops at other institutions sharing how the process can be successfully integrated in support of both program reputation protection and ultimate student career success!!
