So what does the Ranch look like anyways? Pretty primitive, actually. But we sprucing it up a bit just for Ranchstock.
We have a big pole barn that we'll use a place to hold events, dance, eat lunch or dinner, and just plain get out of the sun. If you are desperate for a place to sleep, you can throw your sleeping bag down here, though you will be near the music.
Next to the barn, we have the H.E. Memorial Stage, which has proven to be a great spot for all the bands to play.
Behind the stage and barn is our Aspen grove. A nice place to take a short hike, explore, get out of the sun. Check out Lukas' Loop, a maybe 1/2 mile loop behind the barn that goes past the tree house, through the Aspen Grove, down past some beaver ponds, and back around to the barn. A really fun mini hike for kids of all ages.
Also behind the stage and barn is the Bunkhouse, where people without a tent can crash.
Down by the barn and stage will be six port-o-cans. We're asking you to use these, or the four porta-cans up by the cabin, when nature calls. Please help us keep our ranch shite-free!
Up on the plateau, there is Fort Lukas, a play area for kiddos. Also we'll fill up the swimming pool, so have your kiddos bring their suits. And we'll have a croquet course set up. The plateau will also be the camping spot for trailers and trailer tents.
Also up on the plateua is our homestead, Serenity Cabin. Quite small, only one bathroom; basically we ask that the cabin be off limits except for emergencies. (Our septic system is pretty small).
IF you need fresh water there is well water from our well to the back side of Serenity Cabin.
Up the hill are the hayfields, for camping, throwing the frisbee, or just wandering.
South of the Plateau is Vista Ridge, a great place for a longer hike. The walk along the ridge is gorgeous, with views of the surrounding cliffs, peaks, and valleys. Some of the photos in "Photos of Kinney Creek Ranch" were taken from Vista Ridge.
