My name is Sue Wood and I am an independent Canadian folksinger/songwriter.

I have been performing my original children's music along with traditional and popular songs for over 15 years in Peel, Simcoe and York Region area schools.

My love of story and song was encouraged and nurtured in the school system. At the age of thirteen a wonderful teacher, Miss Chrysdale, introduced her students to the guitar and folk music. I have been able to share that love of music in my performances and I am forever grateful for the gift she gave to me.

When my children entered the school system I became a volunteer at their school giving me the opportunity to work with teachers and children. This experience helped me to further develop my skills as a performing artist. My sense of humour and easy rapport with my audience has enabled me to develop a program that is well received by students and educators.

In 1991 I received a Factor Grant and in 1992 I released my first recording Music for Bears and small Children on cassette. In 1993 year our family went on a year-long teaching exchange to Western Australia. In 1995 I performed in Sudbury at the Regional Assembly of the Federation of Women Teachers.

Over the years I continued to perform and write new material and in January of 2003 I released my second recording Bear With Me on CD. I then began offering a CD Sales Program to schools where half of the funds raised are donated back to the school.

In June of 2003 Bogart Public School in Newmarket used the funds raised by CD sales to purchase books for their library. This program continues to be a successful compliment to my performances. In the fall of 2008 Alcona Glen E.S. raised $150.00 over their 2 day kindergarten booking.

As a visiting artist I am able to introduce young children to the Performing Arts in a manageable timeframe in a comfortable setting without the stress of traveling to an offsite venue.
