David Ireson

David Ireson's fascination with the fusion of words and music started when he was a chorister at Newcastle Cathedral and has continued to grow throughout his musical life. He sang in the Schutz Choir for Roger Norrington and the Monteverdi Choir among many ensembles - currently Vox Musica in the UK and abroad. He is a Lay Clerk at St Albans Cathedral. He was the founder and Director of the Fayrfax Consort and has been Music Director of St Albans Chamber Opera for many years. He conducted the first performances of Tom Wiggall's community opera Alban this year in St Albans Abbey. Having been a founder member of MDS he has been Director since 1978. He retired in 2004 as Senior Master at St Albans School.
