BLACK RIVER FALLS — Cora Laura Emery, 98, of Black River Falls died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Family Heritage Care Center while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.
Cora was born Jan. 4, 1916, in La Crosse to John and Zenia (Post) Mullet. Cora was raised in La Farge and later moved with her parents to Sparta.
She married Vernon Emery on July 30, 1934, in Sparta. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Sparta, and then moved to Black River Falls in 1952. Vernon preceded Cora in death in 2000.
Cora worked for Jackson Box Factory and Dadco Pizza Plant. She also tended bar at First and Last Chance and Club Twelve Dinner Club for 15 years. She was employed at Family Heritage Care Center in the laundry and housekeeping department for 12 years before retiring in 1980.
Cora is survived by one son, Richard Emery of Black River Falls; two daughters, Geraldine Flood of Black River Falls and Barbara (Orville) Taylor of Black River Falls; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents; one daughter, Marlyn; four sisters, Mavis Staneck, Alvina Meyer, Beverly Shawley, and Charlotte Filter; and one daughter-in-law, Rose Mary.
Graveside memorial funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Sullivan Cemetery in the town of Brockway, Jackson County. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Terry Marg. There will be no visitation.
