REGISTRATION NOTES
WHEN REGISTERING ENSEMBLES
If you have a mixed ensemble (e.g. a combination of strings, brass, and/or woodwinds), please select the type of ensemble judge you would like the students to perform for: string, woodwind, or bass.
NOTE: ALL mixed ensembles with percussion should be registered as a percussion ensemble. This allows me to ensure that shared percussion is available and student instruments will fit into the performance room. Please feel free to email me, at the time of registration, if you want to have the ensemble judged by someone other than a percussion judge. I will then schedule around that need as I am able.
ACCOMPANISTS
If you are going to have an accompanist but do not know who it will be yet, please still enter an accompanist “code” in (e.g. EK Piano 1) or even pick a favorite athlete (e.g. Barry Sanders) to use as a placeholder. That will help me sort out any conflicts prior to releasing the schedule.
MOSAIC/THEATRE STUDENTS
If you have students involved in the Mosaic Program or Theatre Programs, please have them check their schedule for that day before registering in case they need an AM time when they would normally take a PM time.
WORK ASSIGNMENTS
Morning shift begins at 7:30am, afternoon shift begins at 12:30pm
While I make every effort to honor work requests, ultimately I can NOT guarantee that you will get your first or second choice. PLEASE plan accordingly.
Student teachers may not sub for work assignments, but are welcomed to join you! We will absolutely make sure they have a good work experience!
If you are unable to fulfill your work assignment, you must find a suitable replacement one week prior to the festival, excluding emergency situations
Adjudicating obligations do not excuse you from your work assignment - you are responsible for finding a sub and need to plan accordingly
Any switches, changes, or issues must be emailed to me as soon as possible
KEEP ON YOUR RADAR
With the increase of online music, the State is requesting that all electronically printed and purchased music (e.g. anything that would be presented to a judge on copy paper as opposed to an original, hard bound piece) get approval from the office PRIOR to checking in to the warm-up room. Given the size of our site, I will be sending a form out with the schedule and requesting that directors check with their student performers prior to S/E that they have the necessary proof ready to bring to HQ that day. Students will then bring that form and their proof to HQ for approval before heading to warm up. Many directors have already been doing this with me (thank you!) but this step will keep our procedures consistent with State events.
Thank you all in advance for following the instructions and meeting the deadlines. If you have questions about the process, please contact me as soon as possible.
Respectfully submitted,
Elizabeth Knoll-Bowman
