Exploring Computer Science satisfies the Digital Studies graduation requirement (1 Semester).
Exploring Computer Science is a course developed around a framework of both computer science content and computational practice. Assignments and instruction are contextualized to be socially relevant and meaningful for diverse students. Units utilize a variety of tools/platforms, and culminate with final projects around the following topics: Human Computer Interaction, Problem Solving, Programming and Data Analysis.
The course was originally designed as a full-year course: http://www.exploringcs.org/.
We will spend the first term learning computer science foundation concepts. These concepts are platform and coding language independent. The second term will focus on programming using the Scratch programming environment: scratch.mit.edu. We won't be able to do the sections on Web Design or Robotics.
The Utah State Standards for this class are changing for 2021-2022! Watch for more details.
