"Types of Scientist PP" that I use with my " What do I look like as a scientist?" project the first week. I give the students white drawing paper and we talk about what is the first thing we visualize when we say someone is a scientist, what do they look like, what type of clothes do they wear, where do they work, what type of tools do they use? We go around room and get ideas, most say white male with glasses and crazy hair, white lab coat working in a lab with beakers and test tubes.. Then we watch a power point showing all the diversity of scientist and then they are instructed to draw a full color picture showing what type of scientist they would want to be. Must include environment they would work, tools they would use, how they would be dressed. They get a 20 extra credit slip if they include a cut out picture of their own heads in the drawing. I get some great pictures every year to hang on my "famous scientist "bulletin board for the beginning of the year, I just add the word SOON TO BE.. FAMOUS SCIENTST to it. It is the first week and we will actually being doing this tomorrow. I will share the results, they are always fun.
