Dracula

DRACULA. Reading guide

TASKS:

3ºB

IN PAIRS/GROUPS

STUDENT A. Imagine you are Jonathan and you are a prisoner in Castle Dracula. Write to Mina explaining your situation. Remember that Mina is not a woman from the 19th century so try to convince her that your situation is desperate and she should make an effort to wait for you.

STUDENT B. Imagine you are Mina. Write to Jonathan and tell him you are really worried because he hasn't made any contact with you for a long time and you don't know whether he is in danger or he doesn't love you anymore. Remember that you are Mina in the 21st century and not in 1847 so you should reflect how women have advanced since the 19th century.

Prepare a presentation with the letters and some photos using Powtoon. If you are good at art, draw some pictures of the castle and the Count to illustrate your work. Make sure you create a gothic atmosphere (death, fear, darkness, blood, desperation,...). The deadline is Friday, 24th April.

IN GROUPS OF 4/5 PEOPLE.

Prepare a presentation with Powtoon connecting the novel with the graffiti that you used at the beginning of the year which best reflect greed. Think:

  • In Banksy's graffiti, who are always pictured as greedy? Use those graffiti

  • In which way is Count Dracula greedy? Use references from the novel.

  • Draw pictures of greedy Dracula and take photos of them to use them in your presentation.

  • Why can the desire to "progress/advance" at all costs also have negative consequences.

The deadline is Friday, 24th April.
