Emergency Management Plan

Intro and Aims

This is a generic plan to consider the risks on a normal open day or activities.

It may be supplemented by a Special Event Plan or specific school plan.

The aim is to anticipate, reduce the risk and reduce the effect of emergency events.

Preparedness

A chart of risks, their rating, and methods to reduce them. Click here.

These may include: wildfire, fall, vehicle incident, health issues, heat/cold/wet, other.

Equipment in the reception centre including first aid kit, stretcher, bottled water, windproof jackets,

Training: At least one of the duty staff on open days has a first aid qualification.

Notices: Basic risk management is noted on the brochure for visitors, and a mobile phone numbers of staff.

Map: Maps are on the visitor brochure. They will note the location of the refuge/assembly area.

Response

contacts and communication: Visitors can contact staff with the numbers listed on the brochure.

management structure: In an emergency the duty staff will be in charge until emergency agencies arrive.

equipment: First aid and other equipment in the reception centre must suffice until emergency agencies arrive.

evacuation: (fire) duty staff can warn visitors to evacuate with a car horn from the reception centre or the top gate.

Assembly area: Visitors and staff to gather at the reception centre and check that all are present.

The Derrinallum designated "neighbourhood safer place" is the Derrinallum Recreation Reserve.

If caught by fire on the mount the safest area would be bare ground on the slope downhill of the fire.

follow up and review: After an incident there will be a review with relevant people.
