Applications are available at local high school websites, guidance counselor offices, or any Mountaineer Chapter Scholarship Committee Member.  Call Chris Thompson at (304) 704-4184 if you have any questions.

Mountaineer Chapter Scholarship Program-------Chris Thompson, Chairman

This is one of the older programs sponsored by the Mountaineer Chapter. Each year the chapter awards four scholarships to deserving students, with each scholarship being worth $1000.00. $500.00 is awarded to the students at the beginning of the school year, and the second half of the money is awarded at mid-school year. The plan is to award scholarships to two graduates from high school and two to students currently attending college. Exceptions are made when no qualified students are available in the different categories. A point system is used to identify the most qualified students, and preference is given to students majoring in conservation and environmental sciences. Each recipient must be a full-time student and maintain a 2.5 grade-point average. Each scholarship recipient is to make a written report or give an oral presentation at an Izaak Walton League meeting at the end of each school year.
