A Welcome Message to Register Members from Terry Seymour

Good Afternoon all,

As I drove towards home towards Lymington from Kidderminster in the Roadster yesterday afternoon I was reminded It was the first day of Autumn, sitting with the roof down stuck in traffic on the A34 driving "Frog Mog" was not an altogether unpleasant experience, it allowed me time to enjoy the sun, look around at the horse chestnut trees already shedding their golden brown leaves, and reflect on moments Nola and I have enjoyed since joining the R100 Register.

When we first got "Frog Mog" back in December 2013 and contacted Frank about joining the Register we were a little fearful it would be a group of stuffy Morgan Owners and we may not fit in or be made to feel welcome, nothing could have been further from the truth as our first experience of meeting everyone back in May 2014 demonstrated.

We turned up early evening at the Lion in Waddesdon with a rather dirty and tired looking "Frog Mog" having just spent a week touring Ireland and joined the organising team of All Morgans' Day 2014 for dinner.

I remember David coming out to introduce himself and welcome us to the R100 Register, the evening passed without a hitch, no awkward or difficult moments, in fact it was more like joining a re union of old friends than being newcomers to the group.

The next Day Nola and I were late up for breakfast and the team had already headed off to get ready for AMD at Waddesdon, when we arrived and headed up the main drive we were again made to feel welcome and directed to our allotted parking area with the other R100s, to be honest we didn't help a lot with this event, probably more hindered as we made our way round trying to meet everyone and catch up with what made the Register and this event so interesting and special to the wider Morgan community.

Anyway these wonderful but momentary memories got me thinking that maybe I should put pen to paper to remind myself along with other members new and old what the Register means to us, along with some of it's aims and objectives, it's by no means an exhaustive list and certainly not rules, more an aide memoire we thought worthy of sharing.

For us the Register is a living entity that relies on a group of like minded people(both past and present owners)sharing their thoughts, ideas and experiences in these wonderful cars via email, the website and our very own "Webmaster" Frank Lomax.

It really is so much more than a website with written words and photos, it's about forging life long friendships with an ever growing group of people, cars change hands, new owners join, previous owners become associate members, and sadly some people move on, but that's life, however the core values for these relationships and Register remain unchanged from those I remember speaking to David and Frank about way back in 2013 when Nola and I joined.

I recall they were and still are quite simply:

    • To create the Register as a none elitist or clique run organisation.

    • Raise money for our chosen charities on a not for profit basis.

    • Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. Help out and contribute when and where you are able.

    • But above all else, don't take yourself too seriously, enjoy being a part of the R100 community, we are all friends here.

If you think there's any value in adding, amending or expanding on this please feel free to drop me a line, for those that don't have it my email address is elltell@aol.com, or if you prefer to chat my mobile number is 07717421936, I'm available on this pretty well anytime.

Hope you enjoyed reading "A time for reflection"

On a separate note time has seen the whole concept of All Morgans' Day grow beyond our wildest dreams, this is now a huge date in the Morgan diary and one which we have been very lucky enough and proud to be involved with, 2018 promises to be another milestone event and we will write separately next week with an overview of where we are today, what to expect on July 1st 2018, and how everyone one of us in the Register has a part to play in it's success.

Regards

Terry
