Ref. Proposed R100 Register.

Progress Report – No 1.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you to those registered to date. We have thirteen cars, soon to be fourteen or 20% of those manufactured by MMC.

This has been achieved in the past few weeks as a result of informal contacts with owners and dealerships.

We await a mention in Miscellany which of course is outside of our influence and control, although we have informed Brian Lee Chairman MSCC, as well as Editor and Sub Editor of this initiative. Hopefully we shall attract their support and appear in the August edition? We look forward to locating the R 100’s as yet unregistered.

Of the thirteen cars registered to date, eleven are UK based, one in Dubai and the other in Sweden. This UK emphasis contrasts with the 35% UK and 65% export mix of MMC production generally, as the R 100 was sold via UK dealerships only, and all to right hand drive unless modified to left hand drive subsequently. For everyone’s information, Mark Ledington the Sales Manager at MMC advised that the R 100 designation highlights the Centenary of the Company and was never intended to indicate a production run of 100 cars. It seems that the sixty cars actually manufactured was all they could muster in a year packed with other commitments, manufacturing and otherwise.

This note is designed to keep you informed and we would welcome your suggestions for the future. Your views on how we take the Register forward are important, as the geographical spread of cars would limit all but occasional get-togethers in favour of electronic communication in the main? If we are to establish and maintain a worthwhile network geography cannot be the limiting factor, rather we should strive to become a point of reference perhaps when cars are modified or change hands.

Please advise your thoughts on how we progress from this point onward. We shall prepare a summary of the views expressed such that the Register evolves in accordance with members requirements so far as is practicable.

Meantime, we hope that you are enjoying your cars and we look forward to hearing from you.

Happy days – David and Frank – Moderators R 100 Register.
