Rowley, Ornithological Miscellany
George Dawson Rowley, Ornithological Miscellany.
This rare and unique work was published in 14 parts comprising three volumes in quarto (1875--1878).
104 of the plates were colored, and Keulemans, among other artists, contributed no fewer than 89 of them. About 27 of these were issued as chromolithographs and represented a divergence on the part of the artist from formal scientific illustration. These chromolithographs are not included in this exhibit.
Images available: 55, including two duplicate images of prints.
**Plate [CIII] (Poliohierax insignis, (male and female)) was reprinted in a book by Arthur Hay, Ninth Marquess of Tweeddale. link
