The Japanese language supplementary school is , Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, which learns basic knowledge and Japanese school culture in Japanese so that students who go to the local school can adapt smoothly when they transfer to schools in Japan. Educational facility certified by Japanese ministry of education.
The school we use every Saturday as a supplementary school for Japanese language is used as an international school (United World College Maastricht: UWCM) on weekdays. It is supposed to be.
Students from Japan take English classes at international schools on weekdays and Japanese classes at supplementary schools on Saturdays during the general stay period of 2-4 years.
There are also many students who attend local schools. Maastricht is one of the most international cities in the Netherlands. It will be an irreplaceable and wonderful experience to interact with new people and learn various cultures.
UWCM is one of the 17 international UWC organizations (as of 2018). The ultimate goal of the UWC is to obtain an International Baccalaureate (IB) certification, and the high level of educational content is highly valued both domestically and internationally. A major feature of UWCM is that it has an IB curriculum and facilities that can cover from childhood to high school.

It is also popular because the tuition is lower than other European international schools, while maintaining a high level of tuition with full support from the Dutch government. It is not an international school with local students, which is often found in Europe, but it is a truly international school where students from more than 40 countries gather when looking only at the primary school.
UWCM has an ESL (English as secondary language) support program, so even students who have traveled from Japan for the first time can adapt to classes in English in one to two years.
The UWCM school building used for the supplementary school classes was newly built in the fall of 2013. Not only is the equipment new, but also security is strengthened, making it possible to study in a very privileged environment. It seems that learning is done in a familiar environment for children / students who usually attend UWCM, and it is usually a fresh environment for children / students who attend local schools.
The Maastricht Supplementary School has a digital library (School -e-Library), and all children can freely read about 1000 e-books for elementary, junior high and high schools at any time.
Our classes are characterized by very dense classes, with a small group of high-quality teachers. In addition to regular classes, the curriculum allows students to enjoy a Japanese school life through admission and graduation ceremonies, sports events, extracurricular activities, social gatherings, and Japanese cultural events. The students are not only from the Netherlands, but also from Germany (Aachen, etc.) and Belgium (Liege, Vise, Hasselt, etc.), but not only students from Japan but also international families I go to school a lot and work hard to study while stimulating each other.
